Home Movies

When we visited with my in-laws over the Thanksgiving holiday, I came home with a project—a dozen boxes of old projector slides from my father-in-law of husband’s childhood along with a slide/negative scanner. The scanner turns the old slides into digital images so you are able to make home movies from them. I finally got around to scanning the first box of slides today. Although it does take a bit of time to get the slides scanned, it is fun to go through the all the images and make the movie. I get to watch my husband grow up on my computer screen.

Christmas Traditions

Merry Christmas Eve everyone! Traditions are what make Christmas so special. One of my family's favorite Christmas Eve traditions is to pile into a car and go look at Christmas lights. After we come back to the house, we turn on the animated version of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". My husband starts a fire in the fireplace, someone breaks out the Christmas goodies and we fix drinks, while sitting around thoroughly enjoying each others company.

What are some of your family's Christmas traditions?

Happy Birthday to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered 72 years ago today at the Carthway Circle Theatre. It was his first full-length animated feature film to be made in Technicolor.

A couple of months later it was put into general release and became a major-box office success, making four times the money than any other film released in 1938. It still registers as one of the top ten moneymaking American films of all time. Because of Snow White's success it allowed Disney to move ahead with other feature-film productions.
