Shoveling S#!t 09/23/09 08/08/2011
"Stopping a piece of work just because it's hard, either emotionally or imaginatively, is a bad idea. Sometimes you have to go on when you don't feel like it, and sometimes you're doing good work when it feels like all you're managing is to shovel shit from a sitting position." --Stephen King I love this quote. I referred to it often, while working on my manuscript. Who better to know than the master of horror, himself? There were a lot of times when I just wanted to quit my story. I wondered why I was still writing it. I didn't feel the concept was sellable, but then I would read this quote and it would make me start again. I read that he reads and writes four to six hours a day with a daily writing quota of 2,000 words. I wish I had that kind of time to give to the craft. If I'm able to squeeze in some computer time before going to work, that's a good writing day for me. Add Comment |
