Did You Know--Noble or Commoner? 03/02/10 08/08/2011
Peers of the realm are the men and women who hold titles. They are the only people who can properly be described as nobles. Even though the wife of a peer is called a peeress, unless she holds a peerage in her own right, she is a commoner in the eyes of the law. Likewise are the children of peers, even if they hold a courtesy title. They are members of the aristocracy, just not the peerage. Add Comment |
